I used to not even be able to look at my bank account, I’d be one of those people that would be at the checkout hoping and praying that the payment would go through because I had no idea how much money I had. Checking my bank balance and paying bills was a full on nightmare, I’d cry and shake, spiral and almost have a panic attack doing it. I had to justify everything that I was spending multiple times, ask for other’s validation before purchasing.

Other times, I’d be throwing my money at things without a care in the world (because you can be a spender, saver and avoidant all at the same time!).

I felt ashamed to receive, and would often stuff the money into my bag as quickly as possible when someone gave me cash, say a quick thank you and move on.

But, most of all, I was TERRIFIED of running out of money.

And then, the thing that I was most terrified of, running out of money, actually happened.

Of course, it did. It feels cliché!

I found myself in living in Peru by myself with £2.19 left in my bank account, zero savings and a blocked credit card.

It was a huge wake up call. It was a wake up call that I needed to improve my relationship with money. It made me realise that I’d given my power to money and it was running the show. It was the boss that made me tremble in my shoes.

I saw it as an opportunity. I could choose to fall into victimhood and let it eat me for breakfast or I could lead myself through the holy fire, trust that it was happening for me and rewrite the story.

I chose the latter and got to work.

The inner work, I mean.

I owned up to it, I took responsibility, I started having “money dates”, I read all the books possible, I took courses about money and money mindset (I got my credit card unblocked and went into conscious debt), I did inner child healing and literally, studied my family and their money patterns & beliefs, I looked into my own limiting beliefs that I wrote myself!, I got in the right & supportive communities that didn’t villianise money, I did soooo much soul inquiry, intention settings, subsconscious resetting and embodiment work to help reset my nervous system to feel safe with money, success & abundance in all it’s forms.
